System Architecture describes the architectural design of FACIEM. The system is decomposed into three main components. These are; Face Recognition Component, Registration Component and Security Authentication Component.
1. Registration Component:
Registration functions are performed under this component which involve subject bio data registration, registration of face data.
Registration of the different premises and access levels / access tables is handled with this module. This module also generates a report showing the registered subjects in FACIEM for a particular organization.
This module also handles user account registration and the system login in authentication and verification. In case a user submits the correct login details, he/she is taken to the home page from where he/she can perform several other operations.
2. Face recognition component
The component defines the tools that are used to capture the face (Image acquisition i.e. camera), face detector, training set manager and the face recognizer as described in the figure above. It is basically involved with recognizing faces and face template matching. The training set manager registers and stores all person’s faces from different perspectives. These faces are then used by the recognizer to identify the rightful owner of a particular face and hence grant or deny access to a particular premise.
3. The Security Authentication Component.
This component deals with granting access to authenticated persons in case of a valid facial match and desired access levels. The component shall further be concerned with registering security access logs that shall be used to generate access reports to the security department.
